Sarah Leigh Muskett A.I.S.T.D. | Head of School
Sarah trained at Performers College in Essex, under the direction of TV Choreographer Brian Rogers and ISTD Fellow and examiner Sue Stephens. She completed a 3 year professional Dance & Theatre course and gained her ISTD teaching qualifications.
After completing her training, Sarah danced professionally around Europe. She performed at Wembley Stadium for the Rugby League Challenge Cup and unforgettable danced in the opening and closing ceremonies of ‘Euro 96’. She also appeared on GMTV and ITV, dancing on various entertainment programmes.
Since returning to N.Ireland in 2000 Sarah has been involved in choreography at the Belfast Waterfront and extensive teaching throughout North Down.
Sarah has been working with the Prince's Trust since 2012, encouraging young people to set up new businesses.
She opened SMPA in 2002 wanting to share her experiences and create opportunities for young people interested in Performing Arts.
Sarah is now the director and founder of “Abbey Studios” Performing Arts Space in Bangor.
It is the new home for SMPA and various other schools and classes in the area.
Her goal is to continue to create the best facilities and training for the younger performers of the future
Courtney Barritt | Dance
Courtney loves travel and is a real foodie. She has had a love for dance since she was 3 yrs old.
She enjoys studying various genres of dance and completed her National Diploma and HND in Performing Arts at SERC college in Bangor.
Courtney then graduated in Dance and Education at the University of Sunderland.
She featured in “Vernon God Little”, which was presented at the MAC theatre in Belfast.
Courtney’s real passion lies in Contemporary Dance and she holds her own classes throughout the week in Abbey Studios .
Tanya Rea | Drama Coach
Tanya first developed her love for Drama and Musical Theatre 15 years ago when she became a student at SMPA. During her 9 years as a student with us, Tanya grew in confidence and obtained multiple dance qualifications. After leaving SMPA she continued to be a helping hand backstage at our shows. She is a big musical fan and has seen over 30 shows .
Tanya completed her GCSEs and A Levels, including Drama and Theatre Studies at Regent House Grammar school and during this time, she participated in various productions including; ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Oliver’ and ‘Bugsy Malone’.
In 2015, Tanya graduated from Stranmillis University College with a 2:1 BEd in Primary Teaching.
We are so happy to have Tanya on the Drama team and back at SMPA.
Kim Marston | Singing & Drama Coach
Kim Marston DipLCM, ALCM.LLCM runs her Music School in Abbey Studios ("The Music Studio") She has been singing all her life and has a big passion for Musical Theatre. Kim also runs a Junior and Senior Ensemble group on a Friday who perform at various events across N.Ireland. Kim loves her Saturdays at SMPA and is a valuable member of the SMPA team.
